On their latest album, called ‘Garage Hymns,’ the Chicago band known as Empires landed some serious blows in the name of sludgy reckless guitar rock. Maybe they’re not exactly breaking grounding that realm but this album is fun as hell to listen to (fans of Black Mountain, Pearl Jam, you get it…). No song on the album packs quite as much punch as “Hell’s Heroes,” a pretty heavy song on the lyrical side of things but as rewarding and invigorating as anything you’ll hear today. We dropped right on in with Empires at Altar Bar to see the song in action, “Hell’s Heroes” Live At The Show.
